Description

Liqueur de Violettes was a famous liqueur in the 19th century. Tempus Fugit Spirits recreated this historical spirit from a century year old recipe. It is made from flower petals hand picked in the Côte d'Azur (Grasse). Its pink-ish color comes naturally from those violets. The liqueur has a mysteriously alluring floral flavor, almost like you are sipping some sort of forbidden nectar. Distinctly floral and sweet, reminiscent of the violet candies popular in the early to mid 20th century. In the early 19th century liqueur de violettes was served with dry vermouth or alone as a cordial. We recommend to serve it as an "Aviation", a classic cocktail made with Gin.

The "Aviation" cocktail with Liqueur de Violettes:

The Aviation cocktail was created by Hugo Ensslin, head bartender at the Hotel Wallick in New York, in the early twentieth century (1916). This is what you need to mix the drink:

> 2cl Liqueur de Violettes

> 2cl Maraschino (cherry liqueur)

> 6cl Gin (Six Ravens Gin)

> 3cl fresh lemon juice

Put all ingredients into a shaker, add ice and shake. Strain into a tall glass and decorate the drink with a maraschino cherry and a lemon zest. Cheers!
